Well hello there SE, you fucking money-grubbing bitch you. Not is it enough to make me pay for a downloadable add-on for FF11 this month, you also want me to necessarily buy that security token. What's the ONE thing players are always clamoring for in FF11? That they're ready to do anything for? More storage/inventory space of course. And what do you get as a bonus for buying the security token? Any guesses? ...double inventory space, inventory space that grows by te same amount as the normal inventory when you expand your normal inventory by in-game means. Fuck you, SE. I know I was going to get my hands on that security token anyway, but just fuck you. That action makes it pretty much mandatory for everyone to get the 10€/$ security token, even if they don't want it.

Shortly about the FF11 April update )

Looks like I really won't be going to Helsinki in April. It was already pretty certain (since I'm stuck in Joensuu and the train tickets would be literally double the cost than from Tampere) but this hammered it in.

Read a manga yesterday, randomly stumbled across it when I was searching for something to read. I ended up reading it the whole night. It's a manga with no excessive humor in it (I don't think it had even one intentional joke?) and is of 5th graders of all things. Starts with the main charas as 5th graders anyway, the latest chapter I found was with them on 8th grade. It's...really awesome. The two main characters are transsexual, and it's just about them going about their lives, trying to figure out life. Taking a look at another manga after that was almost painful, seeing that whimsical nature in most even remotely popular manga and comparing it to that. It's..painful, too.
It's called Hourou Musuko if you want to take a look. What's most surprising is that I found it on Manga Fox, it's the fifth most popular manga there. And the comments on it, while there's some not so amazing ones too, are generally respectful and even mature. I was really, really surprised.

Hey, see how long my resolve to update every other day held. =D;

It's slightly exasperating that even though I have less friends and communities listed at LJ than at IJ, the LJ friends page gets new entries in one night equal to how much the IJ friends page gets in half a week. *sighs in frustration* I can see how people would not want to leave LJ, but how are things ever going to change if there is no action? I'm still horrified over how much those tiny annoying and bothersome changes at LJ have accumulated to the point that they're a real pain. I guess it's not so obvious if you've been following it all the time from within, but.. .___.

Once again I'm up this early. It seems that sometime during the past week, my inner clock twitched a bit again and now I'm waking up at 6 or 7 in the morning and being dead tired by 10 PM. If you only consider what is the accepted norm, this might be a good thing. As for me, it feels very weird and I'm bored for most of the day, since most of my internet activity is at foreign (read: US/Japan) sites, and those are not active during Finland's day.
Maybe that's why I'm so tired come evening. After all day scooped up in here with hardly anything to entertain me...quite understandable, in that regard.

My sister payed back a more considerable sum of what she owes me than she has for quite some time, and I've been feeling like going to buy some necessities (new computer chair....) I've been putting off buying, but I can't get to the appropriate stores or lug back the stuff since I don't have a car (and quite likely couldn't drive one anymore if I had). So easily are my plans thwarted. >.> Trying to entice either mom or my sister to come with me, but no such luck yet.

Oops, seems that I've skipped a couple days. Wasn't meaning to. =D; Like yesterday, I just randomly fell asleep, left my computer open, Amarok on pause, and Firefox open with all its tabs, in the middle of reading a message board. I'd just meant to finish reading one chapter of Sherlock Holmes, but then I put the book away and (it seems) fell asleep immediately. *sweatdrop*

Lately, I've been missing my old LJ friends. I lost contact with people I've known for years (2002-2003 was when I met most of my flist there) when I left the site. I've been following the public posts of some of them with RSS feeds and commenting occasionally, but I'm not all that good with commenting (you must have noticed), and some of them don't allow anonymous commenting besides. And along with anonymous commenting OpenID commenting gets disabled.
So yeah, not really sure what to do about that. I really don't want to go back to using that site. But on the other hand, there's all the people...
Heh, I don't even know why this is suddenly a problem. I left originally meaning to doublepost to LJ, then I stopped doing that, and finally deleted my account there. All without any thoughts like this.

Just out of curiosity, how many of the current flisties have accounts at LJ?

I just found out a funny thing. The Pirate Bay now has a journaling service. xD It's called Baywords, and as far as I know it's their second additional service. In addition to BayIMG, an image-hosting service..
By the way, BayIMG? Awesome. Just upload a .zip for example, and it'll sort the pictures into a folder by itself, and give you links to all of them. =D

Anyway, Baywords. The sign-up procedure sure has some interesting wording in it. TPB FTW? =D (I like this slightly snarky style TPB and the various Pirate Parties and associated groups have adopted)
...when I first signed in (yes, of course I created an account. No, you may not visit it. There's nothing there), I was slightly confused to notice that it runs on Wordpress. Well, I've been meaning to try that out for a while. It's just this image I have of Wordpress, most 'professional' blogs use it after all. There's so many widgets and plugins for it available, I don't even know where to start looking into it. I read up on Wordpress sometime late summer, but I can't remember most of what I read. Just that there was a whole crapload of options.
Why do I have to learn php just to set how the blog displays date and time? x___x

Hmm, seems that my first "oh wow, IJ's back!! =D" post didn't make it through... ah well, not important. I'm just wondering if this one will, or if it'll get posted multiple times if I keep refreshing the 'entry posted' page, like I've had to do for all the rest to make them work.

What's happened these two days? Well...not much. PSN store got updated, that was mildly interesting. And I got my CDs yesterday. (bah to Amazon Japan and their 4,000 yen shipping&handling costs. They got my stuff here in three days, and CDJapan with it's 1,200 yen shipping&handling got me my stuff in four days, two of which were weekend...a bit of a difference there, yes? >.>)

Back to regular schedule. Damn, it was weird not having IJ there all the time to freely obsess over when bored...

Stumbled on an interesting article on Mashable. The Screw You Coefficient. It's a general article about startups that get acquired by big companies, so applies very well to LiveJournal. A very basic line of thought, but some people need stuff like this to realize what's going on... eg why LJ won't change even if you protest or stop using the site, and will continue implementing changes the old userbase won't like.

One of the manga I bought today was really entertaining. Grimms Manga by Kei Ishiyama, I believe it's out in English too. It had a bunch of Brothers Grimm stories changed around a bit. I love stuff like that. =D Well, these might not have been as good as Kaori Yuki's story-changes (or good in a different way, maybe), but they were still very entertaining. I especially loved this version of Rapunzel. >D In it, Rapunzel is actually a guy - a very, very, very pretty guy. The girl finds the tower and climbs up his hair. They spend some time together, and sometime later she gets pregnant. Her father comes shout at Rapunzel and the witch for being irresponsible...
Hansel and Gretel also. Hansel's a very pretty boy, and knows it very well. Is quite obsessed with his looks, in fact. And the witch is actually a rich woman with a liking for pretty young boys... xDD Poor little Gretel thinks she's going to eat Hansel! Endless amusement.. =D

(...I suddenly remembered that I have ebooks to read again. I counted five. Oops...has it really already been that long since I last read anything?)

I have a sudden desire to read fairytales.

So. The LJ one-day strike.

It won't matter.

It's just a petty little ploy by a couple people to feel better about themselves. You're not hurting them, you're hurting yourselves, and in more ways than just one. By fooling yourselves that you've done something about the matter, you're just pacifying a guilty conscience, and can thereafter safely ignore it. After all, you've done your part.

If you want your protest to matter, you'll stop using LJ. That's the only way to go about it. Anything else, and you might as well stop pretending and go back to being a good little sheep and posting obediently, racking up the page views, making money for SUP. That's all you're good for, apparently.

Huh, they're getting new servers again here at IJ? This site sure is expanding quickly. =D

Finally got my copy of FF4 DS and FF12 Revenant Wings Ultimania today! So, instead of playing Revenant Wings..I've spent all day reading the Ultimania. Oops. You know, the book is quite a bit heavier than DS...although thankfully you can just put it down and continue reading instead of having to hold it all the time.
I obviously haven't had the time to read all of it (in fact..only the first part, World & Characters. And I leafed through the rest. Except the Missions part, I don't want to spoil the story), but what I've had time for looks just as good as the rest of the Ultimanias. I've even gotten good enough in Japanese that I can actually read it now instead of look at all the text and wonder what it means. xD I don't get all the details by any means, but enough to understand the topic and some of the details. Still need to learn a couple hundred more kanji to be able to read with any comfort, though. I keep forgetting how to read some of them, even though I know what they mean..and vice versa, although it's a bit more rare that way.

Figured it'd be a bad idea to start playing FF4 before finishing RW, so I haven't even opened the box yet. Need to be able to concentrate on that game so I can understand the Japanese. But anyway, looks like it'll be a couple more days (one, at the very least) before I can take it up - since I spent today reading the Ultimania I obviously haven't had the time to play. I'm only in the beginning of chapter 9, haven't even completed any of the optionals yet. I'll write about the last part of chapter 8 when I have more new stuff to mention.

It may be time to activate this IJ account. GJ is..not doing too well. All the better, then! Considering supporting IJ somehow, I haven't yet looked into the options but I just feel like it.

Short introduction (since I doubt I'll move over any older entries...but, you never know. Might transfer some over at some point):
I'm Jami, 23 years old, from Finland. Was at LJ starting autumn 2003, and moved to GJ full-time in late summer/early autumn this year. Before that, I'd cross-posted at GJ and LJ since Strikethrough. Reserved this account at some point with the intention of seeing where people would mostly settle down, but by the time I decided leaving LJ permanently I'd already forgotten about this one...
Anyway... fandoms? Final Fantasy, I have a private-wiki-almost-accidentally-turned-public called waff that I try to keep up to date. Contributions welcome. Other good games? Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Tales of, Pokémon. Manga and anime... D.Gray-Man, Fullmetal Alchemist, Loveless, Angel Sanctuary (and anything else by Kaori Yuki), Sailor Moon, W Juliet, Inuyasha, and lots of small-name manga that you might or might not have heard of. And then some random books, movies and tv shows, although I rarely mention those.

So hi all IJ people. I might be here to stay. =D

As it says in the user info, this is a placeholder account (at least for now).. I'm keeping my options open after LJ's screw-up(s).
