The Crystal Bearers (the new FF Crystal Chronicles) is confusing me. I've been visiting the site way too much lately, it has this thing where more visits unlock more content...
The Lilty. What the fuck has happened to the Lilty? I didn't pay attention with the Echoes of Time trailer, but...they're tall now. There was one Lilty that was short and in the middle of the screen so I thought they were like before, but the latest video bit updated at the site pretty much threw it at my face. The Lilty are tall now, the short ones are kids. Or maybe the tall ones are just half-Lilty or something? They interbred with Clavats or Selkie too much and now the majority of them are tall? I don't think simple evolution would be enough to explain the difference, even if the previous Crystal Chronicles games are set in ancient times compared to TCB, I don't think that enough time has passed for such a drastic change if it hasn't deliberately been set in motion by different genes combined with Lilty genes...
And Selkie. Where are all the Selkie? Is the girl in the trailer a Selkie? While the first game had a variety of pretty colors for Selkie hair, the later ones have included that annoying red too, and her hair could be a reproduction of that in a slightly different graphical style.
And..what are those orc-like things that still appear Lilty-like too? Don't tell me they went and bred with orcs too. >.>
And even though the promo email from SE said that magic has disappeared and the Yukes with it...then why is there a female Yuke in the trailer? And has Cloud of Darkness's voice actor to boot. xD I crack up every time I watch the trailer and hear her speak.
For that matter, what made magic disappear? I know the disappearance of magic has been featured in FFs before (FF6, FF8 kinda since there's the whole Sorceress thing and para-magic not being 'real' magic, Ivalice partially since there seems to be a constant degradation of it the further in time you go), but there's always an explanation. I'm curious for this one's explanation. What makes it especially curious is that we got to play in the ancient/mythical time first, and will now get to see the world's future. The CC world can't have been too old in the original game, since it had only been..what, several hundred years since Lilty settled on the area? And they were the first. And set in times before that, the cultures in Ring of Fates seemed a bit primitive compared to even CC, although in CC there was obviously the whole Lilty culture decline thing, not to mention Selkie being complete nomads compared to before when they actually had a city.
It's also curious that the previous CC games haven't featured summons/espers, other than My Life as a King as bosses in the..the...mugen no tou, dammit. Tower of Eternity? I forgot the English name. =D; And the TCB trailer clearly features Bahamut.
Of course, there's Carbuncle to consider. Although I'm not sure of the relation here, since Carbuncle in the CC world seems to be some kind of a shinigami, or connected to the world of the dead in any case. Hmm...
Not sure what else to write about. As usual, haven't been doing much.
